Where to Find Good FS17 Mods?

Although it’s an old game (it was released in 2016), Farming Simulator 17 still engage players all over the world. The game has an average of more than 1,500 concurrent players every day, or more than 10 % of the number just after launch.

If you’re one of the many players that are enjoying the game and wonder where you can get good FS17 mods, here’s a shortlist of pretty safe places to download them.

Giants’ Modhub

The Farming Simulator 17 Modhub does still exist. You can visit it online or by opening it inside the game. The only downside is that it does not longer receive updates of any kind.

This is another excellent resource for all kinds for Farming Simulator 17 mods. Just be aware that the site just aggregates mods, the site owner doesn’t test any of the addons. The website also has an in-house modding team that has made some perfect additions for the game. Another plus, is that the site still gets updated with new addons.

Marhu’s website used to be one of our go-to sites for mods. It has a decent selection of mods for ’17, created mainly by the site’s members.

American Eagles Modding

Looking for some North American machinery, tools, or maps? Then, your best option is to visit American Eagles Modding. The site has a pretty extensive collection of US and Canadian styled addons. The only bummer is that you need to become a member of the site to download the modifications. But hey, it’s free.

We would generally recommend Modhoster, as well. But they have started to do some pretty weird stuff with its mod section recently. It seems anyone can upload anything. The site does no longer support legal modding.

Of course, is sorely missed. That site had some excellent mods back in the heydays of Farming Simulator 17. Unfortunately, the site has closed, taking down all the mods.

The Most Popular Farming Simulator 2015 Mods

(Back to the front page.)

Farming Simulator 2015 (FS 2015) was released on October 30, 2014, on PC and Mac. It was almost six months later that the game was released on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4. The game has two names:

  • In German-speaking countries: Landwirtschafts-Simulator 2015 (LS 2015.)
  • And in the rest of the world: Farming Simulator 2015.

Giants official Modhub wasn’t quite as populated as it is now. The FS 2015 section of the Modhub has around 270 mods, while the FS 17 section has about 1,200 mods. That’s quite a difference, right?

Back in the heydays of Farming Simulator 2015, it was sites like (doesn’t exist anymore) and that used to be the go-to sites for mods. Note that mods were only available on computers back then.

Modhoster was the most popular mod site. It hosted more than 6,500 addons for the game. The biggest category was the maps section. There were, and still are, more than 800 maps available on the site. But none of them have made it to the top 10 most downloaded mods.

Here are the Top 10 downloaded FS2015 mods from Modhoster:

1. DriveControl

This addon made the game vehicles more realistic. Among other stuff, it added options to choose between 2WD and 4WD driving. It also added manual reverse to most vehicles.

2. Multifruit

With this addon, it’s possible to add more crops to the maps, other than the vanilla crops that came with the game.

3. UniversalProcessKit

Do you play FS19? Do you know the GlobalCompany mod? The UniversalProcessKit (UPK) addon did much of the same that GC does now, making it possible for modders to add functions to buildings.

4. Chopped Straw

This script had to be implemented into the map. When activated, simulated cut straw lying on the ground after threshing the crops, when swath creation was disabled.

5. Courseplay

Coureseplay was also one of the most popular mods in Farming Simulator 2015. Then, like now, it helped to automate much of the farming chores.

6. AutoCombine

The AutoCombine mods for FS 15 added more functionality to the game’s AI system. It was particularly helpful when harvesting a field. Where standard AI workers barely managed to go up and down a field, the AC addon made them harvest in circles, around the fields, for example.

7. Claas Xerion 4500

The first vehicle mod on the list is the Claas Xerion 4500 tractor, made by Smety. Smety is still making fantastic Farming Simulator mods. His monster Class tractor is now considered an FS classic.

8. Krone BigX 1100 BeastPack

Bullgore’s excellent Krone pack is the eight most downloaded mod from Modhoster. It included machinery like the Krone BigX 1100 forage harvester and a Man TGS 18.540 8×8 truck with a Bergmann forage box. The pack also contained the magnificent Krone Cargo trailers.

9. Placeable Heaps

FS17 introduced the “Tip Anywhere” system. In Farming Simulator 2015, you had to use the Placeable Heaps addon to create temporary heaps of crops around the map, outside the silos, and the selling points.

10. Animation Map Trigger

This addon had to be built into the maps or the buildings using them. In short, it made it possible to open and close doors and gates, things we take for granted in newer versions of the game.
